Altafulla

A Hidden Gem on the Mediterranean

Altafulla is an ideal location for yoga retreats and nature-based activities. With its slow and relaxed rhythm, bright blue skies, Mediterranean Sea, breathtaking coastal landscapes, and preserved forests, it provides the perfect setting for both deep connection and inner renewal.

Nestled on the Costa Dorada in the Tarragona province of Spain, Altafulla boasts a beautifully preserved historical center, crowned by the medieval Castle of Altafulla. Along its clean, sandy beach, you’ll find an 18th-century fishing quarter with charming small houses. The village itself offers supermarkets, a pharmacy, and a variety of restaurants and beach taverns.

A scenic walk along the seashore leads to another medieval landmark, the Castle of Tamarit, perched on a small promontory overlooking the sea. Beyond it lies one of Catalonia’s last remaining coastal pine forests, part of which is protected as a small nature reserve.

Altafulla enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate year-round, with abundant sunshine. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 30°C, and a gentle sea breeze keeps the air pleasantly fresh. In addition to swimming in the sea, the area is perfect for cycling and hiking through the scenic coastal pine forests.
