FAQ
Do I need to be able to perform certain postures, in order to participate in the training?
No. From birth on people are very different in their physical constitution and the softness of their tissues. In flexible people energy can flow more easily, whereas in stiffer people energy can be held better. None of the two options is better and Yoga is about uniting both qualities. You start wherever you are with the motivation to grow.
Every person at some time in his/her life also experiences injuries and/or limitations of strength or flexibility. Yoga is about meeting those limitations with openness and love.
How much experience do I need and in which styles?
Ideally, you have 3 years of yoga-experience (practicing once a week) or less time with more intensity, no matter which style. If your practice has up to now not involved any dynamic movements that are syncronized with the breath (like sun-salutations), all you need is to be open to learn something new.
Which style am I trained to teach?
Your teaching will only be authentic if it reflects what you practice yourself. In the training you will learn how to apply the indian system of the 5 elements to create an energetically well-balanced sequence, while this structure leaves enough space to be creative and develope your personal style.
We teach the flexible Atha Yoga series as an example of how to make a sequence that harmonizes the flow of energy, no matter which constitution. One of the aims of the training is to give you the skills to find and teach your own personal style.
I am an experienced student and/or teacher. Is the training suitable for me?
In the Atha Yoga Teacher Training we welcome any experienced yoga practitioners and yoga teacher to study with us. Chances are high that you learn many surprisingly new things that can transform your practice, regardless of previous experience.
These trainings are a great opportunity to study, learn and grow with a group of people who all have a passion for yoga and want to share yoga with the world. Both experienced practitioners and more novice students generally have no problem studying and practicing together on each others side.
English is not my first language, can I still attend?
The training materials, all lectures and all classes are taught in English. If English is not your first language, please consider carefully how and if you can cope with the additional challenge of studying in a second language. You can also see it as an opportunity to study Yoga as well as English!
